Our Team of Western North Carolina Home Builders
Born and raised in the mountains of WNC, Mark Sluder is a true "local" in every sense of the word, with both sides of his lineage raising their families in the greater Asheville area for generations. When Mark started his first construction company (Black Rock Construction, Inc.) in 2006, his initial goal was to build 1-2 small speculative homes per year as an investment strategy. Eventually that grew into 4-6 homes per year, then 6-8, with most selling in the early stages of construction, forcing Mark and his team to evolve into more of a "Custom Home Builder" - this new model became Mountain Legacy Builders. With a career spanning over 25 years, Mark has unique perspective of the construction industry. With time spent on the supply/ sales side of the business, Mark understands how vital those supplier relationships are to home building and has put together a loyal team of suppliers that make the whole process more enjoyable for clients. Mark's vision when creating MLB was to still build "Fine homes in the Mountains for under $1 Million Dollars" so that more people and / or families could enjoy the beautiful WNC mountains for generations to come. With a focus on simplifying the process and the overall "customer experience" from start to finish - Mark and the MLB team are excited about discussing your next home building project in Western North Carolina!

Originally from the Bahamas, Kevin Malone and his family initially relocated to the WNC mountains in the late nineties. After swinging a hammer for many years, Kevin made the jump into project management and general contracting. With experience ranging from property management, vacation home builds in the islands, residential/commercial construction, and renovations, Kevin has seen every corner of the building industry. As VP of Construction, Kevin’s leadership in the field and expertise in project management allows clients to rest easy knowing that their project will stay on time and on budget.

Also hailing from Asheville, North Carolina, Lucas Sluder went to Appalachian State University after high school to study Construction Management. After getting married and returning to Asheville, Lucas joined his father at Black Rock Construction as a project manager. As the business grew, so did Lucas' role in the company and he now wears multiple hats in the family business. These roles include project management, operations, and IT logistics. Lucas' dedication to keeping MLB up-to-date technologically has innovated the way they do business. Lucas keeps customers constantly updated through BuilderTrend, a project management software. This gives clients peace of mind throughout the build so the customer can feel like they are "on the jobsite" from the comfort of their living room. For MLB, Lucas is the bridge between customer and craftsman. His goal is to make each client feel informed and in the loop on the progress of their new dream home.
